Indian-origin Arjun Bansal (35) and Ankit Bose (27) have made it to Fortune’s 40 Under 40 Global List. Arjun is the Vice President of the Artificial Intelligence Software and AI Lab of the US tech company Intel. Ankiti is the CEO and co-founder of the fashion platform Jilingo. Every year, Fortune magazine releases a list of the 40 most influential youth in the business world.
Intel bought Arjun’s startup for $350 million
According to Fortune, there are 100 people in Arjun’s team who deal with Intel’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) work in America, Israel and Poland. Intel’s major AI projects also include a special computer chip designed by Arjun’s startup Nirvana. Intel bought Nirvana in 2016 for $350 million (existing Rs 2485 crore).
Ankiti started Jilingo four years ago. Jilingo provides online platforms for small businesses in Southeast Asia to sell their products. Its headquarters are in Singapore. Jilingo’s idea came to Ankit’s mind when she went to Thailand in 2013 to spend the holidays. He notices that there was no e-commerce marketplace available.
Jilingo close to $1 billion valuation
Jilingo raised Rs 1604.6 crore ($226 million) in February. The company’s valuation is close to $1 billion. According to Fortune, last year only 10% of the world’s startups with a $1 billion valuation were founders. Jilingo’s founder Ankeeti Bose will also join the club.
19 women are among the 40 young people on the Fortune list. These include Amazon’s voice user interface designer Alison Atwell (31) and PepsiCo’s bubbly brand director of marketing Marissa Bartening.
