PM Modi to Address Indian Community in Houston Next Month

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the Indian community in Houston on his US tour next month. 

He will also take part in the session of the United Nations General Assembly. 

On Tuesday, the organizers said that 40 thousand people have registered for the event on September 22nd. 

They have named the program as Howdy, Modi!  

Howdy is the short form of How do you do. This term is quite a prevalent term in Southwest America? People use it in a friendly manner to inquire.

Mayor said – Indian community in America is a home for Modi

The event is held by the Texas India Forum. People associated with the institution have hoped to attend 50,000 people at the NRG Football Stadium. People are not being charged for registration.

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said that we are eager to welcome Prime Minister Modi. The Indian community is home to him in America. The Prime Minister’s arrival here will boost business, culture, and tourism between Houston and India.

40 thousand people registered in two weeks

Organizing committee convenor Jugal Milani said that in the last two weeks, about 40 thousand people have registered. They have prepared 1000 volunteers for the program. The Forum has included 650 organizations in it. They will also give the cultural presentation in the program. 

Modi will be among the Indian community for the third time

This is the third time Modi will address such a large Indian community after becoming Prime Minister in 2014. 

This will be Modi’s first US visit after becoming Prime Minister for the second time in May. They have held their first two events at Madison Square Garden in New York in 2014 and Silicon Valley in 2016. Over 20 thousand people attended these programs.
