The Malaysian government, taking cognizance of Zakir Naik’s hate-mongering statements, has called him for questioning.
Recently Zakir Naik said that Hindus in Malaysia had got 100 times more rights than Muslims of India. Malaysia’s Home Minister Muhiddin Yasin said that we consider it a case of racial discrimination and a sensitive case. So the police have called Zakir for questioning.
Hindu minority community in Malaysia
Malaysia has a population of about 20 million. It is 60% Muslim. After this, the largest population is Hindus. Hindus have considerable influence in politics and business here. In such a situation, Zakir’s statement is considered inflammatory for both the communities.
Home Minister Yasin said, “I would like to remind all parties that Malaysia’s law agencies will not think of taking action against people who threaten social harmony and peace.”
Minister of Government of Malaysia has demanded to send Zakir to India
Malaysia’s Human Resource Development Minister M. Kulasegaran has demanded the handing over of Zakir Naik to India. On Tuesday, Kulasegaran released a letter saying – Zakir is having fun here on the money of taxpayers of Malaysia. He has serious charges. And, is plotting to spread hatred in Malaysia. He should be handed over to India.
Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has previously refused Naik’s extradition, but now opposition to this Islamic religious leader has intensified. Mahathir had said not to send Zakir to India citing security reasons, although he said that if any other country wants to take Zakir, he is welcome.

Zakir Naik has been living in Malaysia for three years after he fled from India. Recently he gave a statement. He said- Malaysian Hindus has 100% more rights than Muslims living in India. Hindus here consider Narendra Modi more than Mahathir Mohamad. Malaysia has a population of about 20 million. 60 percent of it is Muslim. After this, the largest population is Hindus. Hindus have considerable influence in politics and business here.
