The Lahore High Court on Monday waived the death sentence of former President General Pervez Musharraf. The High Court while waiving his sentence said that the decision of the special court, in this case, is unconstitutional. He sentenced to death on December 17 by the special court for postponing the constitution and enforcing an emergency.

However, the Lahore High Court while waiving the death sentence of the former President, said – the decision of the Special Tribunal against Musharraf is unconstitutional. The case and prosecution arguments filed against him are illegal. After this, the High Court overturned the decision of the special court. Musharraf’s lawyers had appealed to the Lahore High Court after receiving the death penalty from the special court.
The emergency was Imposed
Musharraf imposed Emergency on November 3, 2007, postponing the constitution. He then ruled in Pakistan from 1999 to 2008. A hearing against him in the case began in December 2013. In March 2014, he convicted of treason. However, the matter went on in different appellate forums as the case went on. He left Pakistan and moved to Dubai in March 2016, taking advantage of the slow justice process. Musharraf has been in Dubai since then and is undergoing treatment due to being seriously ill.
Musharraf described the punishment as wrong

Musharraf declared a fugitive in the case of the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and the religious master of the Lal Masjid. The Pakistan Army had said that Pervez Musharraf could not be a traitor.
