US President Donald Trump has clarified that they presented no proposal for mediation on Kashmir.
India’s Ambassador to the US Harshvardhan Shringla gave this information on Monday.
In an interview to an American channel, Shringla said – Trump has said that mediation on J&K will be acceptable only if it is acceptable to both India and Pakistan.
India has already rejected the point of arbitration. Therefore, it was not proposed by the US.
According to Shringla, America’s decades-old policy has been that it will not mediate on the Kashmir issue.
However, he (America) will definitely encourage Indo-Pak to ensure that both countries resolve the issue bilaterally.
‘Abolition of Article 370 is not a violation of LoC’
Shringla also said that abolishing Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir is our internal matter. It is not a violation of any border or international control (LoC). India has made Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh two separate union territories under the same rule.
“We have found that for the last 70 years no development could happen in the state because of Article 370. That is why we took this decision. We have made a temporary provision under the Constitution. Our aim is to establish good government and social justice system in Jammu and Kashmir. ”
