On Wednesday, 15th May, BJP President Amit Shah held a press conference regarding violence during his roadshow in West Bengal. He targeted Mamata Banerjee and TMC workers in this press conference.
He said that they were conducting the roadshow peacefully. But, the TMC workers attacked them three times. He said that they had news that some people from the university will attack them and throw stones on them.
He stated that it would have been impossible for him get away unhurt if the CRPF wouldn’t have been there.
He appealed to Mamata Banerjee and said that if she has nothing to hide, then let the matter be investigated by an unbiased agency.
Mamata Attacks Amit Shah
TMC Chief and West Bengal Chief Minister attacked the BJP. Mamta attacking BJP President Amit Shah she said, is Amit Shah God, that we can’t protest against him.
There was a rage during Amit Shah’s roadshow in Kolkata on Tuesday, 14th May. Some people threw poles on the vehicle on which Shah was boarding, while others threw stones at the roadshow.
Amit Shah finished his roadshow when police used lathi charge to control the situation.
Mamata Banerjee said, “They (BJP) are irresponsible, so he broke the statue of Vidyasagar. They are an outsider. Do they know about the legacy of the University of Calcutta? Do they know which great personalities studied here? They should be ashamed of attack.,”
Violence Erupted Within The University
Amit Shah said in a press conference that violence occurred nowhere except Bengal.
While Mamata Banerjee has alleged that the BJP is doing the violence.
Amit Shah said, “Mamata didi, you are fighting on only 42 seats in one state. The BJP is fighting in every state. If only Bengal is facing violence, then it is because of the Trinamool,” the BJP chief said.
Yesterday, the police and the Election Commission kept mum during the violence. They tore apart the posters of Prime Minister and other leaders. They made attempts to attack us with fire, stones, and kerosene in the bottle. They were throwing stones inside of the university.
Trinamool workers smashed the idol of Vidyasagar: Shah
Upon being questioned about Vidyasagar Statue Amit Shah said, “They shut the gates, our roadshow was outside, our workers were outside, the bust was inside a room, which would have presumably been locked. The keys must have been with the college management. How can we break the statue,”.
Trinamool Delegation Will Meet Election Commission
Mamata Banerjee further said that there are big cutouts of Amit Shah and Prime Minister Modi in Kolkata. BJP is spending a lot of money here. Why does the Election Commission not take any action against them? Meanwhile, the delegation of Trinamool leaders will meet the Election Commission on Wednesday for the violence in Bengal.
BJP Appeals To EC: Ban Mamata From Campaigning
BJP has appealed to the Election Commission to stop Mamata from campaigning in West Bengal. They alleged that the constitutional mechanism has ended in the state.
On Tuesday, 14th May, the BJP delegation led by the union minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi met the Election Commission to discuss the violence in Amit Shah’s roadshow.
The BJP urged the Commission to intervene in the matter of Bengal so that fair elections could be held there.
