On Tuesday, 13th August, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi requested the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to hold an emergency meeting on the Kashmir issue.
Qureshi said he is sending a formal letter to the Chairman of the Security Council through Maleeha Lodhi, Pakistan’s permanent representative in the UN. While the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, wishing Pakistan Independence Day (14 August), said that Imran Khan should maintain peace and stability on his country and the border.
In fact, Pakistan, which has been gathering support from all over the world against the decision to remove Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir. But, it has to disappointment from everywhere.
Recently in the United Nations (UN) program in New York, Maleeha Lodhi had to face a backlash from one Pakistani citizen.
A person insulted Pakistan Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi in the UN. The man told Maleeha, “You are a thief, you have no right to represent Pakistan.”
‘Hope Imran will work for peace’
Mike Pompeo said in a congratulatory message, “Whenever the US and Pakistan have worked, they have achieved success in all the work they have done.”
Pompeo further said, “Recently Imran Khan came on a US tour. He spoke of peace and stability in his region. We hope that Imran will do as he says in the coming years. ”

While the Pakistan foreign minister said, “India’s decision on Kashmir issue is against the UN resolution and illegal. This decision has caused unrest in the state. We are standing with Kashmir. We sympathize with the residents there. I have written to the UNSC requesting that an emergency meeting be called to discuss this issue. ”
Imran Khan Visit PoK
Prime Minister Imran Khan will also give a speech in Pakistan’s occupied Kashmir assembly on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day on 14th August.
Imran will reach Muzaffarabad on Wednesday morning. Will rally with local people. Many ministers of the Secretariat and Cabinet will also be present on this occasion.
According to officials, Imran’s visit to PoK is taking place in view of the present situation.
