Famous boxer Vikas Krishnan has decided to pursue his professional career in America instead of practising at the National Camp in Patiala. As he believes that traditional training is not enough to get a podium place in the Tokyo Olympics next year.
Vikas Krishnan is currently practising with another boxer and close friend Neeraj Goyat at the Inspire Institute of Sports in Bangalore as he was asked to leave NIS Patial due to alleged violation of quarantine guidelines. He was then deemed to have an unintentional violation. The Sports Authority of India decided to allow him to return after the Test, but he has no plans to return.
Vikas Krishnan is practising at IIS under the guidance of American coach Ronald Sims. He said in his statement, I will continue practising here. I am in rhythm and I have no desire to go to Patiala again. I don't see any meaning in this. Asked about the tension in Patiala, Vikas said, I have never harmed anyone. I made a mistake, but my wish was only to do good for my country. I did not create any problem for anyone. This 69 kgs boxer will play in the 70 kg category in the pro circuit. Vikas Krishnan has no intention of returning.
